A student's dream. Leipzig.

Leipzig is one of the cities in Germany with the largest increase in population. Around 600,000 Leipzigers, including almost 37,000 students, live in this extremely lively city. What greats like Goethe, Bach, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Leibniz and Nietzsche already knew: Leipzig is the city of almost unlimited possibilities.

Leipzig's surrounding landscape is also very attractive: In a quarter of an hour you can cycle into Leipzig's "Neuseenland". The huge holes of the former open-cast mine were gradually flooded here, and now a spectacular lake landscape has emerged. A true leisure and recreation paradise!

Leipzig means upheaval. During the political changes at the end of the 1980s, people here stood up against injustice and despotism in the GDR. Then, in 1989, they marched in large demonstrations on the inner city ring road. After the peaceful revolution and German reunification, Leipzig became a modern European metropolis – and hasn't stood still to this day.

Leipzig also means: endless culture. Art, music, concerts, festivals, theatre, indie productions, children's theatre, plus lots of fantastic cinemas where you can see not only blockbusters but also lots of subtitled films, independent films and great film series. Tip: the International Festival for Documentary and Animated Film, DOK Leipzig – one of the biggest in Europe with 300 films every year.

Another cultural tip: the Leipzig Book Fair and "Leipzig liest", with hundreds of venues in the city – including parties. Classical music in the opera and the Gewandhaus, with everything else all over the city. Add to that an unbeatable concentration of pubs and bars – here you can live your student dream.
